I was on a consultation call with a client, and we were talking about that article I wrote about my coworker who went nuts

I told him that the interesting thing about China (and many other non-Westernized countries) is that you can be a very weird person and still be very successful financially

As a foreigner with a relatively large salary (compared to the locals in your country), there are almost no guardrails keeping you from acting out every hedonistic fantasy that you have

But there’s a problem – over time, the past thrills that excited you don’t quite hit the same way, and you might go searching for higher highs….

It’s called “hedonistic adaptation”, which is defined as “the tendency of people to return to a stable level of happiness after experiencing positive or negative events”

That means that whatever you do, it won’t have a lasting effect on your happiness

And you’ll likely go searching for more, and possibly end up in a situation where you crash out from over-stimulation…. I’ve seen that happen quite a few times

Anyways, thankfully, your boy Danny is here to keep that from happening to you!
