When I first left America, I had a hefty amount of debt

Through focused work, I was able to pay it off within a couple years timeframe

Don’t underestimate the weight that debt can put on one’s mind

It’s a miserable feeling to know that every dollar you make technically belongs to someone else (the person you owe the debt to!)

Putting yourself in position to live in a low cost city while earning an above average salary is an awesome strategy for paying off debt (I’m speaking from experience!)
