Iām not gonna lie – teaching English online has a lot of perks to it
Not only can I work from anywhere in the world, but the work itself can be very enjoyable
If you have a class full of motivated students who are eager to learn, it can really make the time fly by and feel like youāre not even really working
With that said, itās not always sunshine and roses with teaching English online
Thatās because one of the obstacles to teaching English online isā¦.. needing internet!
Recently I was in The Philippines, scoping out the place, trying to decide if I want it to be my new āhome baseā country
Letās just say that the allure of *thick* Filipina women was a huge draw for me checking out the countryā¦.
Anyways, I had heard the internet in PH was kinda shaky, but I didnāt realize how TERRIBLE it would actually be!
Every day when I was teaching class, I was facing internet outages, which was really messing up my ability to hold a stable class
I managed to power through, but it definitely showed me that I probably should choose a country with stable internet as my home base country
Now thatās not to say you canāt teach English online in The Philippines – you can, itās just that youāll need to invest some extra money into internet router equipment
The next time I visit PH, Iāll almost certainly buy a high-quality router so that I can have stable internet when teaching.
If you want to teach English in The Philippines (or any country with crappy internet), I suggest you do the same
